Danny Has Been Delivered from Hodgkin's Lymphoma
In September of 2010, I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. My Oncologist informed me my condition was terminal and I had as little as two weeks to live. No operation or any amount of chemotherapy could save my life and I was sent home to die. I was also going through a difficult divorce at this time too.
My lounge room became my prison. I sat on the couch for seven days with tears constantly running down my face, thinking about how my mother was feeling about my soon passing. Suicide was on my mind regularly. Most of my friends had left me, no-one wanted to get involved, only three stuck by me all the way. For the first time, in a long time, I spoke to God in the best way I knew how - that was on the seventh day.
On the eighth day the Lord blessed me with a phone call! It was my Oncologist from the Flinders Medical Centre. He sounded quite excited. The Doctor told me there had been a mistake made with my medical results. They had diagnosed me with the wrong cancer, I had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma not lung cancer. I didn’t care, cancer was cancer and my condition was still terminal. Then he stated my situation had been down- graded to a stage 2 cancer and with a lot of extreme chemo there would be a good chance of survival.
In early 2014 I decided to search for the reason for life. I wasn’t happy with my alcohol and marijuana problem. Life in general was dull, colourless and boring....and the rest of the world was losing the plot too. My mind was made up, I wanted a new life. I bought a Bible from Paddy Gill’s bookshop and he introduced me to a couple from the Revival Fellowship who invited me to a Sunday Communion meeting at their Woodcroft Hall.
I was baptised on my first visit and at Easter Camp, one week later, I received the greatest gift anyone could ever want. I received the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues!!! I can truly praise the Lord for many things. Firstly, I have another chance at life, there is no more cancer. Secondly, I have made an awesome amount of new friends - my brothers and sisters in the Lord, and thirdly I have found my best friend of all, Jesus! Amen
