Dot was Healed from Cancer
I was brought up as a good religious girl, attending church and singing in the choir. I always knew that the Bible was God’s Word but I didn’t have any proof of it, so I didn’t believe it. In 1972 I heard the gospel. Friends invited us to a meeting but before I could get to a meeting I was hospitalised and operated on; my husband almost lost me to cancer. The doctor told my husband he would very likely be raising our four children on his own. Eric said he might check out the place our friends had told us about. He came to visit me a broken man, yet a day later he was a changed man. I wanted what he had.
He would never attend church because he had too many unanswered questions and didn’t want to be a hypocrite. But he came back from a meeting and said “It’s true! He’s true! The Lord!” He got my Bible out and we sat in my hospital room reading scriptures. A pastor and his wife visited me and had prayer with me and I felt so blessed. I used to smoke 80 cigarettes a day but now found no pleasure in smoking at all. And instead of lying back in bed being nearly dead, I was sitting up and laughing.
Days later I left hospital and was baptized. The Lord filled me with the Holy Spirit, I spoke in tongues and in that instant I knew such a joy, and a peace that I had never known in my life and I knew that God knew me; He’d found me and I knew Him and it was just so wonderful. And the Lord has kept me, He has blessed me so much. He has provided my absolutely every need. When my Mother was ill, He was my wonderful comfort. When she passed away many years later, He was right there. You can’t explain the comfort that I could feel.
The Lord said He’s coming back for the over-comer and I‘m aiming to be there. And the most precious thing in the world to me is my salvation and I can only hope and pray that I’ll still be walking the right way when He comes back. It’s the most wonderful thing to have.
