Peter Found Clarity Through The Word of God

I was raised in a loving family. Dad was raised Presbyterian and Mum Catholic, so religion was never

discussed. I began to indulge in some bad habits in my high school years and also developed a foul mouth - even towards God. I began University in 1987 and started using drugs and formed ungodly relationships. I experienced symptoms of schizophrenia; condemning ‘voices’, repressed emotions, depression, anger and suicidal thoughts. In January 1989 I ran into a friend, David Hains, the day after he was born again in Port Lincoln at a Revival Fellowship outreach, and I saw real peace. I ended up staying in Port Lincoln with a Spiritfilled believing family. Their son, my best friend, was healed of Leukaemia after prayer, which really impacted me. Six weeks later, I was taken to his meeting where I ‘accepted Jesus into my heart’ and said the ‘sinners prayer’; and was told after that prayer that I was born again. I was genuinely contrite and repented of my sin and was baptized by full immersion in water. That hour, I began speaking in a new language, which came bubbling up from deep inside with great joy. I was so happy to experience the unspeakable joy of having my sins washed away by the blood of Christ and the power of the Holy Ghost.

I was taught as a young believer that, the ‘gift of tongues’, being ‘filled with the Holy Spirit’ and being ‘baptised with the Holy Ghost’ were all different experiences, which at that time I accepted as true. Once I’d received the Holy Spirit for myself this didn’t seem right, leading me to search for something, I realise now, I already had! Meanwhile the Lord blessed me with a wife and three children and has “reinstated” my career. I have been healed and have seen many miracles.

I struggled ‘bringing people to the Lord’ myself, so I began looking for more clarity through doctrine. In 2012 someone suggested that I attend the Revival Fellowship on KI and I attended a ‘Kids Camp’ two weeks later. I had John 3:8, “so is every one that is born of the Spirit” explained, as well as how Peter and the Jewish believers knew the Gentiles had received the Holy Ghost, “for we heard them speak with tongues”. (Acts 10:46). The very next day at home, my son Solomon received the Holy Ghost and was immediately baptized. One month later, Ishah too received; and then within the year, Sarah too...being instantly healed of an inner ear infection immediately after having received the Holy Spirit! What a joy to see all our family now born again of water and the Spirit according to the scripture, and serving the Lord, even beginning to operate the spiritual gifts in church. I can’t thank God enough!
