Lisa Was Protected When Hit by a Ute at 65km/ph While Cycling

I was riding my bike on a bike track along Tapleys Hill road and I stopped to wait for the traffic lights. The lights went green for me to go across and I had just started to take off on my bike, and as I looked to my right there was a ute that had run the red light and was coming straight towards me. I knew it was going too fast to stop in time for me and I was too close to get out of its way. I knew it would hit me, so I closed my eyes and just said “Praise the Lord”.

I remember hitting the bonnet, then the windscreen, then flying off the front of the ute and landing on the ground. My biggest concern was my legs; I couldn’t feel them. I could feel that the bull-bar had hit me across my thigh and I was worried that I might not ever be able to walk again.

One of the witnesses happened to be a nurse and another happened to be a doctor. They both believed that I had two broken legs and internal injuries when I was put into the ambulance. The hospital X-rayed me from head to toe and the doctors couldn’t believe that I didn’t have two broken legs or major injuries, just deep tissue damage to my leg. I was amazed! Considering how fast the ute had been going and how hard I had been hit. However, I knew some of my brothers and sisters in the fellowship had been praying for me and I knew that the Lord was looking after me.

Meanwhile my Dad went to where the accident had happened. The driver of the ute was still there talking to Police. The Police said that the ute was travelling at 65 km/h. Dad didn’t know how I was, but when he saw the ute, all smashed up, and my helmet in pieces on the road he thought that there was no way I could’ve survived without serious injury. He couldn’t believe it when Mum rang and said I had no broken legs - just concussion and deep tissue damage.

I have a permanent dent in my leg from where the bull-bar hit me, but it’s a reminder everyday of the wonderful testimony that the Lord has given me to share with others. I can’t imagine not having the Lord in my life.
