John was Healed of Alcohol Addiction, Smoking, and Anger Management Problems

I was very nervous and angry. I hated my father because when he was drunk he used to beat my mother and my brothers, and sexually abuse me when I was 13 to 14 years old. I was interested in music and playing in bands, ten pin bowling and playing basketball - however I was always very angry and often got sent off for my behaviour!

At the age of 28 I was a good panel beater but I had been addicted to alcohol from the age of 13 and was smoking 25 - 50 cigarettes per day. I very much lived for work, money, women, partying and discos. The following year I experienced my greatest blessing of all when I was baptised and received the Holy Spirit - “Wow my life changed immediately!” I lost the desire to drink alcohol, be immoral and go to discos. My furious temper and violence stopped. I made the mistake of thinking I could stop smoking myself but I did not have the will power. However, after persistence in prayer the Lord took away my desire to smoke. There were no side effects or withdrawals.

When I had been filled with the Holy Spirit for only six months God gave me the ability to forgive my 70-year-old Father. I went to see him and told him I had been changed by the power of God, and showed him out of the Bible the correct way to find Salvation. I laid hands on him and prayed for him to be healed from arthritis in all of his joints and the Lord God above healed him. He has had no more swelling and no more pain - what a mighty blessing!

I most value the peace and joy I received when the Lord gave me the Holy Spirit, and the ability to be able to trust God.
