Nick was healed from Drug Induced Psychosis and Addiction
In October 1996, I was confronted by a simple testimony from a former hippy and junkie, as to how she had been delivered from Hepatitis C and her lifestyle, by the saving power of Jesus when she had received the Holy Spirit. I was challenged about my own life. I was not sure how real this was, or if this experience was available for me, being Catholic at the time. When I had enrolled into Flinders University of SA in the 1970s I entered a new world of personal freedom, radical left-wing politics and the student movement. I embraced it all and became a “hippy” with an alternative lifestyle, opposed to the system. I took up with drinking much alcohol, cigarettes and marihuana. Much later, I enjoyed amphetamines; when I was 32 years old I started using a syringe to inject speed and heroine. The ‘highs’ obtained were very addictive. However, some 20 plus years later, I had become addicted to using drugs and alcohol.
It was then in October 1996 a man, called Bob explained that God could, and would prove Himself to me, by giving me the same wonderful experience of receiving the Holy Spirit, and knowing Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. He opened his Bible and showed me the words of Jesus: “You must be born again of water and the Spirit”. I was baptised by full immersion, and later on 1st December 1996, I received the Holy Spirit just as Jesus promised. The Holy Spirit instantly healed and cleansed me from all of my addictions. That very night I returned home a new person free from cigarettes and marijuana smoking, or from using a needle to inject drugs. I had no withdrawal symptoms or pain. It was as if I had never done those things before in my life. Jesus had instantly healed my body and soul.
Over time the Lord went on to heal me and set me free from alcohol, extremely bad language and cursing; along with a bad temper with violence. Jesus healed my lungs and my kidneys. He healed my mind from psychosis through the high levels of drug use. I have received the spirit of truth; and when I pray in tongues, I am praying in the Spirit. My prayer life is powerful through the strength and purpose of the Holy Spirit. I can pray for healings and help from Jesus, my Lord and Saviour. Not just for myself, but for others as well.
