Susan was Healed From a Severe Anaphylactic Shock

I had a minor surgical procedure at the Flinders Medical Centre (one of Adelaide’s three major hospitals) and the anaesthetic put me into anaphylactic shock. My organs all swelled up and shut down so I couldn’t breathe and my heart stopped. It was as if the Lord had arranged for Angie, a sister in the fellowship, to be on duty in the ICU trauma room that day. She vividly recalls that I was unrecognisable, my face and neck were all puffy and swollen, and I was a bit blue because my body was completely lacking in oxygen. Blood was coming out of my eyes, ears, nose and mouth because it was so thin, so I was also in danger of bleeding to death. When Angie read my name on my chart she started praying for me straight away, I was the most severe case she had ever seen.

It took about half an hour before they could actually get air into my body. They weren’t sure what medications to give me because they weren’t sure what caused the anaphylactic reaction. My family were told they didn’t think I would last the night, and the only real assurance they had was that God could heal me.

That night it was amazing that Pastor Paul and Cathy were allowed into the ICU. Pastor Paul clearly remembers that I wasn’t looking very well at all and couldn’t respond in any way when he spoke to me. While they were praying, Cathy, who was at the foot of the bed, felt how cold my feet were and was quite saddened by the situation that she saw. When they started praying a couple of things happened. One was that Cathy felt my feet start to warm up. The other was that the machine that was breathing for me started beeping, and Angie said “Keep praying, she is starting to breathe on her own!”

From that moment I just continued to improve and improve. I was doing things really quickly; it was just amazing. Everyone in the ICU unit was just astounded that I didn’t have any brain damage. I was out of ICU in ten days, but not knowing about all the things that had happened to me I was puzzled by why all these staff members kept coming to see me in the ward! A week later I was allowed to go home. A month after this, almost all my brain functions were right back to normal. God answered the prayers of my family and the fellowship, and raised me up!
