Eko is Free from a Life of Crime

My grandparents were the first black Lutheran Pastors and Missionaries serving in PNG. My parents were serving in the Lutheran church in the Highlands when I was born. I was given a Bible at age of 7 because my mother was a Sunday school teacher. When I went to school I found the doors were wide open to do whatever I wanted. I did awful things that were different from what my parents had taught me. In year 11 I began drinking heavily and would hold people up to get money, but the Police could not catch me. I completed Year 12 and went to Forestry School.

I had a lot of complications in my body - I was very ill for many years. I had taken lots of different sorts of drugs, but they could not diagnose what was wrong with me. I had to go to the Doctors every 6 weeks, but that didn’t bother me. I was one of the first ‘rascals’ (part of a criminal gang); involved in fights, hold ups and taking revenge. I got really furious in 1999 when my Aunty was attacked - I mobilised my men, burnt 3 houses and destroyed a lot of properties. I became a wanted man by the police for the crime I committed. Then I stopped and I started looking back - I shouldn’t be doing all this. I could see the Lutheran Church wasn’t following what was written in the Bible so I started looking for a church worshipping God in Spirit and Truth ... but could not find one.

I got a Scholarship in 1999 and came to Canberra, Australia in 2000. I came for two reasons: I wanted to get educated and I wanted to look for a Church that worshipped God in the Spirit and in Truth. I started looking on the second day but after visiting six churches I could not find the Truth. On 18th of March 2000 I went to a Revival Fellowship Rally in Canberra. I told the pastor I was looking for a church that worshipped in Spirit and truth. He told me I was in the right place - God was going to save me! Next day I was Spirit filled with the evidence of speaking in tongues! I was baptised on 26th November 2001. After I was baptised and Spirit filled I was completely healed of my sickness! My Court files in PNG had gone missing! I was set free now that my sins were forgiven by God. Now I really know what the Bible is all about.

I went back to PNG and God used me to pray for others and see many miracles. These miracles convinced my family members and many of them are now Spirit filled. I just want to praise the Lord!
