Tom Has Found Peace Through Receiving The Holy Spirit

In 1979 I was happily enjoying my life working seven days a week and loving every moment of it. I was a self confessed workaholic, but my wife Jan had decided that there must be something else to life besides work. She had started to search for the Lord at the local Church of England Church as she wanted to bring the children up with some sort of moral code. Then her brother Dean came to visit and Jan could see the change in him so she went with him to the Revival Fellowship meetings. Next thing I know I am off to camp at Carrickalinga. At first I didn’t go to the meeting but Jan had some prayer with Pastor John and next day I was in the meeting. I enjoyed the chorus time, I even enjoyed the talk on Bible numerics but all of a sudden people started to speak in a language that I did not recognize and that really scared me. We went home from camp then.

The next Sunday we went to the Vogue and I decided to get baptised. I did not receive the Spirit straightaway as I did not humble myself. One night Pastor Graeme came to dinner and we were chatting about some scriptures and then he asked me what should we do now? So I was placed in the position of asking for prayer, which resulted in me receiving the Holy Spirit. On receiving the Holy Spirit the main difference in my life was the feeling of being at peace. The desire to drink alcohol left me and being a tradesperson the bad language that went with the job left me also and I did nothing - it was the Lord who took all the undesirable things out of my life. I know that the Lord has protected me when I have fallen off ladders and keeps me safe whilst working with electricity.

The Lord has continued to bless my life and provide abundantly for me and my family. I cannot thank the Lord enough for His blessings in my life.
