Kerry is Protected From the Severe Symptoms of Best's Disease
At 11 years old I was diagnosed with ‘Vitelliform Macular Dystrophy’ or ‘Best’s disease’, an incurable, degenerative, genetic eye disorder. A cyst on the macular affects the central vision necessary for tasks like reading, driving and face recognition. In adulthood it can rupture and cause severe sight loss. My two brothers were given the same diagnosis and our parents were very upset at this news and the prospects for our future education, employment and quality of life.
Not long after this happened a family friend wrote to my parents about God’s healing power. My father visited a pastor and was shown scriptures in the Bible that promised healing for those who believed. He was also told about God’s salvation. He and Mum were both then baptised by full immersion and received the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues and experiencing the power of God. I saw many changes in my family including a much more peaceful household. A few months later while I was praying I received the Holy Spirit too and was excited about being chosen by God. It is now over four decades later and I thank God that I still have my sight and am able to read, do bookwork and effectively use my computer for all kinds of applications.
As a young mother I had difficulties controlling my temper. One day I was so out of control that I separated myself from my children and prayed for God to heal me. With much relief, He did this straight away and I thank God for my new, patient disposition. Migraine headaches plagued me as a teenager and increased in frequency and severity. I distinctly remember the moment a severe migraine developed while I was driving. I was so affected that I had to pull over to be ill. I called on God to heal me and that was my last migraine. I rejoice that my husband, children, parents and other family members likewise enjoy lives full of miracles and blessings. I have no doubt that God hears and answers prayer.
