Rick and Gaye's Marriage was Healed

Towards the end of 1977, our lives suffered a major upheaval when after nearly 10 years of marriage and two children, Gaye and I separated. We tried on several occasions to reconcile our marriage but found that the harder we tried, the worse things got.

Through a sequence of events, I was placed in a position where I heard the full gospel message. I had always believed in God and that Jesus Christ was his son, but I had never seen or heard of any evidence about his power in the churches that I had previously been associated with. I went to a meeting at the Vogue Theatre one Sunday afternoon without Gaye knowing and after encouragement from various people I decided to get baptised. I could see this was written in the Bible. In my situation, I thought, what did I have to lose by giving it a go? When I came up out of the water I actually felt, for the first time in a long while, I had done something right. An incredible peace came over me. The following Sunday we attended the meeting at the Vogue as a family. Gaye actually commented that she felt like she had come home when we entered the foyer. I received the Holy Spirit, with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues, two weeks later. About a week after that Gaye got baptised as well and she received the Holy Spirit quietly herself while we were praying together, by our bedside, as man and wife, something we had never ever done before.

The healings that we, as a family, have received from the Lord, & the abundant blessing on our business over the years have been immeasurable. We have been blessed to be involved in the Lord’s ministry in Alice Springs for over 10 years & have seen the changes in many people’s lives because of his never-ending grace.

During my time in Alice Springs I got very sick with pneumonia, heart failure and atrial fibrillation in the December of 2003 and nearly did not make it to 2004. Through the prayers of many people throughout our fellowship, I was completely healed to the amazement of my doctors. My heart has gone back to it’s normal size and is functioning well. Praise the Lord.

Both our children have grown up and have been baptised and Spirit Filled with families of their own. We have now been married for nearly 50 years, something that would not have been possible if it was not for the Lord’s intervention all those years ago.
